Bilateral environmental talks between BMU and State Committee on Forestry in Uzbekistan

Bilateral environmental talks between the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the State Committee on Forestry in Uzbekistan (CADI partner in Uzbekistan) highlighted the support of the Uzbek partners for the efforts of the CADI project for the conservation and sustainable use of cold winter deserts of Central Asia. The protection of the deserts, especially Saxaul forests, conservation of biodiversity, carbon sequestration and reduction of erosion processes have been identified as most important for providing ecosystem services, improving living conditions for the local population and to foster proper economic development in the agriculture and forestry sector. From both sides, further environmental cooperation is appreciated.
